Homeschool Art Club: Painting with Oil Pastels

Join us for our April Homeschool Art Club! Students have the opportunity to learn techniques and instructions for specific projects—this month we'll be painting with oil pastels! We are here to provide arts education for the homeschool community and will supply all materials and directions. Bring your family and get ready to get creative at the Arts Center!

FREE for area seniors (62+). Gather with friends—or make new ones—at the Arts Center for studio fun!

Family members (non-seniors) can pay a $5 fee to attend.

Please note: Senior deposits are no longer required. Please let us know if you can no longer attend, so that your spot may be given to someone else.

Join us for the opening reception of Larry Jon Davis' Retrospective Exhibition at the Galesburg Community Arts Center on Friday, April 18 from 5-7pm!

Celebrate a lifetime of artwork and stylistic evolution, spanning both the 1st floor and 2nd floor galleries. This exhibition will feature a range of representative paintings, prints, and drawings by Larry from throughout his creative and professional career, and will remain on view through May 31, 2025.

Larry will make comments about the work around 5:30pm, to be followed by a dedication of the Larry Jon & Jacquelyn Harvey Davis Printmaking Studio on our 3rd floor.

Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.

Da Vinci Series: Geometric Watercolor with Raphael Iaccarino

As part of our Da Vinci Series, internationally recognized artist Raphael Iaccarino will guide participants through the basics of watercolor, focusing on geometric composition. Learn techniques, ask questions, and have fun!

Suitable for beginners or those seeking to build their skills. All materials provided. $25 per person.

Hand Lettering and Calligraphy

*A $10 deposit is required for participation, and will be returned upon completion of the class*

Family members may pay a $5 fee to attend this session alongside their senior family member.

Please note: If your deposit is made by credit card, $9.50 will be refunded due to fees. If you sign up and do not attend the class, your deposit will be removed from the "On File" list.

Mix Media with Purpose!

$25 per person

Explore intentional interactions between media, and learn how to implement them in meaningful ways. What do these different media emotionally communicate? Can we abstract our painting to push into these elements? Madelyn will guide participants in the fusion of charcoal, paper collage, pencil, acrylic paint, and oil pastels through an honest exploration of identity. This class will help you build and develop proficiency with various painting materials, techniques, and ideas. It will also help expand your interactions between media to implement them in powerful ways.

Whether or not you've taken this class before, you will gain new insights and techniques by attending! Feel free to ask for specific guidance or techniques.
