JUROR - TYLER HENNINGS

Tyler Hennings received his BFA from Western Illinois University, and his MFA from Northern Illinois University in 2002. He is the Director of the Western Illinois University Gallery. Hennings has exhibited regularly since 1998, receiving several awards and honors for his work.

“When choosing awards for a group exhibition like this there are several things that I am looking for. I like art that gets my attention from across the room, and when it draws me closer reveals a story I didn’t see from a distance. I want to find art that is unique; that does something I haven’t quite seen before. I look for a sensitivity in material handling, and an artist that utilizes the qualities of their medium. I want a painting that looks like it had to be a painting, or a photograph that had to be a photograph. I want an artwork to tell me what it is, but leaves room for me to discover what it means. I want to see ambition and I want to see restraint. I look for any one of these things or some combination of them that makes me want to keep looking.”

Artwork Guidelines

Only original work of the artist, no signed, printed reproductions
Artwork produced within the last 2 years
Any media accepted
One entry per artist
Must be ready to hang (with wire) or stand securely*
Artwork no larger than 40” wide and 54” high
Artwork weight no more than 100 pounds
Artwork must not have been included in previous exhibitions at the Arts Center, or displayed in the gift shop.
The Arts Center reserves the right to refuse artwork that does not meet the requirements above, or is found unsuitable for exhibiting (*this includes not having a wire)

GCAC Member $10.00/Friends $15.00 (Have you renewed your membership, or need to join? Visit Member Perks!)

Friends entering must live within a 50 mile radius of Galesburg. There is no mileage limit for members of the Arts Center.

If artwork is to be made available for sale, please price work with the following in mind: 70% to artist, 30% to GCAC.

Artwork Delivery

Artwork may be delivered or shipped to the Arts Center at 349 E. Main St., September 28 - Oct 2, 11-6pm (Artwork shipped in, must include a return label, call tag)
Artwork may be picked up Nov 28 - Dec 1 (the Arts Center is closed on Mondays).
The Arts Center will not be held responsible for artwork left more than 45 days from the last day of pick-up.
