Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator
The Galesburg Civic Art Center is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator. They must have the drive and passion to connect and engage people of all ages to visual art through innovative programming, activities, and volunteer opportunities. We are looking for a committed individual who is collaborative, forward-thinking, detail-oriented and HANDS-ON!
Must have driver's license and reliable vehicle. The position calls for a generalist with a background in visual arts and/or museum studies (preferred) who can be self-directed and also work closely with the Executive Director, committees, artists, and community organizations.
1-3 years of experience administering and implementing public and community programs for a range of audiences.
1-3 years of experience in volunteer management and community cultivation; to include volunteers, program audiences, and donors.
1-3 years of experience in collaborative work environments, including working with or leading volunteer committees.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Coordinate artists to share their talents with our community through leading workshops and activities for our visitors, partners, and events;
Create a system for and implement volunteer recruitment activities that cultivate volunteers from a variety of demographics, for a variety of programming;
Developing our next generation of volunteers through work with high school and college students;
Build the Art Center’s capacity for programming and outreach through coordinating programming with community partners and volunteers;
Maintain the Art Center and its inventory of materials;
Represent the Art Center and programs within the community and at internal/external meetings, events and online, with a goal to inspire increased active participation in programs and volunteerism.
Skills and experience:
A passion and knowledge for/of community and the arts, with 1+ years of experience in audience and volunteer development in a nonprofit environment. This individual must be organized and able to multi-task like no one’s business.
Be comfortable speaking in front of people, groups, and with all ages and from all backgrounds.
Be hands ON! With fun art stuff, also comes not so fun stuff like paperwork, attendance tracking, and budgets. Staying on top of details and multiple schedules is important.
Be able to manage your time! We are a fast-paced Art Center with a lot going on, it’s critical that you can adjust priorities, think critically, and not let time slip away.
