The Galesburg Civic Art Center hosts exhibitions in the Joanne R. Goudie Gallery and the Blick Gallery.
The main gallery at the Galesburg Civic Art Center was renamed the Joanne R. Goudie Gallery on May 25, 2012 in memory of one of the Art Center’s most dedicated volunteers, Joanne Goudie. Joanne moved to Galesburg in 1954 and soon became an integral part of the Galesburg art community. Throughout her 50 years as a volunteer at the Art Center, she served on the board of directors, as curator of the permanent collection, on various committees and as a gift shop volunteer. It is the dedicated service of Joanne and all volunteers that the Art Center continues to be a vital part of the Galesburg community.
The Blick Gallery opened in December of 2011. It is located behind the Galesburg Civic Art Center's gift shop, One12. The Blick Gallery was named in honor of Blick Art Materials' continuous and genereous support of the Galesburg Civic Art Center. The Blick Gallery was created to allow area artists the opportunity to exhibit at the Galesburg Civic Art Center in a less formal setting.
"Blick is honored that the Galesburg Civic Art Center has named its new gallery the Blick Gallery! Blick strives to be very supportive of the Arts, both nationally and locally. For many years we have supported the Civic Art Center, including Art in the Park and Studios Midwest. We also support the Buchanan Art Center in Monmouth, as well as the art departments at Knox College and Galesburg High School.
We believe that the Arts, specifically the visual arts, are vital to the culture of our country and community. Galesburg is very fortunate that it has many excellent organizations in both the performing arts and visual arts serving the community. " - John Polillo, Executive VP Operations, Blick Art Materials.
